Criteria For Individuals
Quality
Whilst we aren't looking for anything specific, we do expect a certain level of quality with your costume/mersona. Whilst images don't need to be professionally taken, they need to be a quality representation of what you can offer
Proof Of Ability
Should you wish to be listed as a Swimming Mermaid, you will need to provide proof in the form of video that you can safely swim in a tail. You will be listed as a Land Mermaid only until such proof is provided, so we recommend including it in your application to avoid any potential missed opportunities.
Proof Of Qualification
Whilst you don't need any specific qualifications to be listed on the site, if you want to include your qualifications on your profile (eg AIDA ** Freediver etc) then you will need to provide proof of you achieving that level
FAQ's For Individuals
"Do I need an up to date DBS to be considered?"
DBS certificates are not a legal requirement for entertainers in the UK, HOWEVER it is HIGHLY recommended.
More and more clients and venues are asking to see the DBS certificates of entertainers, so by not having one you may miss out on potential work.
As Hire A Mermaid UK LTD isn't employing you, we do not have a right to request a copy of your DBS and therefore do not ask for one as part of the application process.

"Do I have to be a Freediver?"
No. As not all Mermaid work requires this skill (for example, land mermaids) you do not HAVE to be a Freediver to register with Hire A Mermaid UK.
However, only freediving mermaids will be listed for tank work, aquarium shows, open water bookings etc.
"What if i no longer want to be listed?"
That's no problem! You can cancel your membership any time, your profile will be removed once any remaining time on your membership has elapsed OR you can request removal of your profile ASAP but keep in mind you will not be refunded for any remaining time on your membership.
